Tasmanian Dairy IndustryThe Tasmanian dairy industry produced 662 million litres of milk off approximately 460 dairy farms in 2007/08. This current season (2008/09) it is expected that milk production should rise 6% to 700 million litres. The average herd size is over 300 cows. Despite recent challenging seasonal conditions milk production continues to grow. The Tasmanian industry is looking to grow with a target of 750 million litres by 2010. There is scope for investment in current dairy farms and for new dairy farm conversions. Business migrants are welcome. Click here to view the Tasmanian Dairy Newsletter for July 2009 |
